Bugs of the Underworld

A 35 minute 2007 DVD film showing the real lives of benthic macroinvertebrates in the wild. The secret lives of macros, such as mayflies, damselflies, midges, caddisflies, and stoneflies is revealed for the first time. This film could easily fit into a Discover channel, PBS, or Animal Planet lineup. Their transformation into winged adults, particularly when viewed from underwater, is a marvel of grace and beauty. Upon viewing, the universal statement among flyfishers and students is “I didn’t know that!” These insects are far more than simply trout bait; they profoundly influence the aquatic ecosystem, and their presence is an accurate measurement of stream health and water quality.
